Drive Thru Flu Clinic set for Thursday., Oct. 14
Saint John’s Health System will provide convenient
drive-through seasonal flu vaccinations on Thursday, Oct.
14, from 6 to 8 a.m., 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m.
Drive up to the former Emergency Department’s
ambulance ramp on West 22nd Street. The drive is
just west of the Saint John’s Medical Arts Building. Watch
for special signage.
“We established the Drive Thru Flu Shot hours to be
convenient for people heading to work, on their lunch break
or driving home,” said Chief Nursing Officer Nancy Pitcock.
“You can stay in your car through the entire process.”
The drive-through flu clinic will accept Medicare part
B. Individuals must show their Medicare card. The cost is
$25 for private pay.
Pitcock pointed out that this will be the vaccination
against the seasonal flu and the H1N1 influenza
strain.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention, every year in the United States, on average 5%
to 20% of the population gets the flu; more than 200,000
people are hospitalized from flu complications, and; about
36,000 people die from flu. Some people, such as older
people, young children, and people with certain health
conditions, are at high risk for serious flu complications.
