Saint
John's Ambulatory
Services Center brings together
in one location a full-range of outpatient diagnostic
and cancer treatment programs.
Patients receive radiation therapy in Saint John’s Cancer
Center. The Center provides radiation therapy from experienced professionals
using state-of-the-art equipment. A radiation treatment
planning system computer and a CT treatment simulator offer
valuable assistance to the radiation oncologist in planning
individualized treatments. The
Cancer
Center also uses Intensity Modulation Radiation Therapy (IMRT), the latest
available technology in the nation for radiation therapy, to
deliver higher doses of radiation only to the tumor tissue
and sparing the surrounding normal tissue. Other progressive
technologies include accelerated partial breast irradiation
utilizing MammoSite and SAVI. This allows an appropriately
selected breast cancer patient to receive treatment twice a
day for 5 days as opposed to traditional 30+ days.
Radiation Oncologists at the Saint John’s Cancer
Center are with Progressive Radiation Oncology and are Board Certified. The
physicians have recent academic training and actively
participate in clinical research trials bringing current up
to date evidence based technologies to the community of
Madison
County.
