Hospice Offers Grief Workshop for Children Saint John's Hospice is presenting a workshop series for children dealing with grief. "When Someone Very Special Dies" is a program for children, ages 5 to 12. It is designed to help children recognize and express feelings of grief, encourage open communication, and dispel any misconceptions they may have about the death of a loved one. The six-week course uses stories, activities, and coloring to help children begin coping with the loss. Each child will complete a memory book that will be his or hers to keep. There is no fee for this program. Participants must register by Jan. 30 by calling Judy Jackson at Saint John’s Hospice, 646-8334. The series will meet in the Saint John's Medical Center classroom on the fourth floor of the North Building on Tuesdays from 4 to 5:30 p.m. beginning Feb. 3. Parents are welcome to attend a parent’s support group that will meet at the same time. |
