| Rehabilitation
Services Saint John’s provides a full range of services to rehabilitate patients with injuries and/or disabilities. Inpatient physical, occupational and speech therapy is conducted at the Medical Center. Outpatient physical, occupational and speech therapies are primarily conducted at two Carl D. Erskine Rehabilitation Center locations. Specialized programs are available for pediatric and adult orthopedics, neurologic and developmental care, pain relief, wound healing, balance and dizziness disorders, and industrial rehabilitation. Our new Regional Balance Center offer highly technical advanced diagnostic and treatment services to patients with symptoms of dizziness, unsteadiness (vertigo), or loss of balance. All traditional physical medicine modalities are available, including aquatic therapy (at the Carl D. Erskine Center Meridian Street site only) and upper and lower extremity orthotic appliances, such as hand/wrist splints and custom-made shoe inserts. OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY Occupational therapy has established treatment regimes for: hand injuries, upper extremity orthopedic or neurological conditions, arthritis, head injuries, debilitating conditions, developmental delays, pulmonary diagnoses, joint replacements, neurological or other debilitating illnesses or injuries. Occupational therapy will provide individualized rehabilitative treatment, as well as assistive devices and durable medical equipment evaluations. Patients and families are instructed in proper and safe use of appropriate equipment in order to improve safety and independence. PHYSICAL THERAPY Rehabilitation services are provided to individuals with: joint replacements, neck and back pain, arthritis, fractures, strokes, multiple sclerosis, head injuries, developmental delays, rotator cuff injuries, inflammatory processes, ligamentous injuries or other musculoskeletal injuries.
