DESCRIPTION:
Saint John’s maternity services brings
together a team of maternal specialists who share the goal of enhancing
local services provided to women before, during and after their
pregnancy.
Birthing Center
Through
its team of skilled physicians, nurse midwives, and other
health professionals, Saint Johns Birthing Center
provides optimum care to newborns and mothers. The unit
features:

State-of-the-art Labor, Delivery, Recovery,
Postpartum (LDRP) rooms. Mothers will remain in the same private room
for the entire labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum experience,
unless they have a C-section.

Each room has a separate dining area, where the new
mother can have a special Celebration of Life meal with her partner.

At Your Service -- lunch and dinner are ordered from
a menu and delivered to the room throughout the day

Complimentary snack area and snack cart
-
TV and VCR, including EdTV education access
-
Rockers, sleep chairs, and whirlpool baths are
available
-
Level II nursery.
-
Bilichek is used to detect jaundice in infants
without taking a blood sample
-
Newborn portrait,
internet gallery access for family and friends, and professional
photography packages available
-
Lactation consultant and
breast pump rental
In addition to the
personalized care provided by the Saint John’s Birthing Center staff and
its physicians, Saint John’s now offers a Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic
to provide care management for high-risk delivery and post-partum care.
Maternity Massage and sexual dysfunction counseling are available
through the office of Dr. Denise Thompson and Woman to Woman Health Care
in the Ambulatory Services Center.
Maternal Fetal Medicine
The Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic provides prenatal screening and
diagnostic testing, genetic counseling, targeted ultrasound and
high-risk and complicated pregnancy management. The Maternal Fetal
Medicine diagnostic services are delivered by physicians of St.Vincent
Maternal Fetal Medicine Group. They are:

A.Kinney Hiett, M.D.
When necessary, additional prenatal screenings and diagnostic procedures
are offered at the Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic. The clinic
communicates with and supports the patient’s primary care physician in
managing the pregnancy.
