BIRTHING CENTER:

Saint John’s maternity services brings together a team of maternal specialists who share the goal of enhancing local services provided to women before, during and after their pregnancy.

Through its team of skilled physicians and other health professionals, Saint John’s Birthing Center provides optimum care to newborns and mothers. The unit features:

• State-of-the-art Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) rooms. Mothers will remain in the same private room for the entire labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum experience, unless they have a C-section.

• Each room has a separate dining area, where the new mother can have a special Celebration of Life meal with her partner.  The Birthing Center also provides a separate Birthing Party for the whole family.  It includes a birthday cake and a keepsake CD.

• At Your Service -- lunch and dinner are ordered from a menu and delivered to the room throughout the day.

• Support Meal -- allows for the individual who is supporting the mom to also order room service and eat with the new mom free of charge.

• Complimentary snack area and snack cart.

• TV and VCR, including EdTV education access.

• Rockers, sleep chairs, and whirlpool baths are available.  Massage therapy is available before or after delivery.

• Level II nursery. 

• Bilichek is used to detect jaundice in infants without taking a blood sample.

• Newborn portrait, internet gallery access for family and friends, and professional photography packages available.

• Lactation consultant and breast pump rental.

Maternal Fetal Medicine

When necessary, high-risk and complicated pregnancy management and specialized prenatal screenings can be handled at St.Vincent Women's Hospital Indianapolis.
