CHURCH
HEALTH STATIONS:
S aint
John’s Health Stations, located in eight Anderson churches, are making a
positive and profound impact in health education and promotion, illness
prevention and access to health services in their neighborhoods.
Originally the church-based health stations
targeted the African-American community. The latest new Health Stations
take the program into more neighborhoods with a broader focus.
The health stations promote personal health
awareness through health screenings, displays, and instructional
materials. Health education programs, organized and hosted by the
churches, add another dimension to the health ministry. At monthly
meetings, Healthcare Ministry volunteers share ideas from their
stations. These health screening/educational centers are designed to
increase awareness of health risks. They are not first-aid or treatment
centers.
