REHABILITATION SERVICES:
Saint
John's Health System offers a wide range of traditional and
highly specialized rehabilitation therapy services through
five different patient care settings: acute Inpatient
therapy in Saint John’s Medical
Center through the Rehabilitation Department and
Bennett
Rehabilitation Center, two Carl D.
Erskine Outpatient
Rehabilitation Centers and Home
Health Care Rehabilitation Services.
Traditional Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and
Speech Language Therapy services are available with a
physician's order for evaluation of any patient's physical
and cognitive functional needs and abilities and for
recommendations and treatment that will assist each patient
in reaching his/her functional goals.
Saint
John's and Erskine
Rehabilitation Centers have
developed specialized rehab programs that offer specific
assessment and treatment programs for those with more
specialized needs. These include:
Orthopedic/Post Joint Surgery Rehab and Sports Medicine
Rehab: Assessment and treatment of all musculoskeletal
injuries, surgeries or disorders.
Spine Rehab: assessment and treatment of all forms of
back/spine pain or neck pain.
Hand/Upper Extremity Rehab Specialty: Certified
occupational therapy services with extensive experience with
unique conditions or injuries of the hand and arm.
Foot Problems: Assessment of the feet, hip to foot,
walking patterns and need for orthotics conducted. Custom
and off-the-shelf orthotics are available at the
Erskine Center.
Chronic Pain Problems: Assessment and treatment of all
forms of chronic pain including back pain, fibromyalgia,
arthritis, and other types of pain syndromes.
Neuro Rehabilitation: Specially trained therapist with
contemporary neuro rehab equipment and techniques to assess
and treat individuals with stroke, TIA, MS, head trauma,
Parkinson's, balance or vestibular disorders, spinal
conditions, and debility due to disease and /or disuse.
Emphasis on improving arm, leg, and cognitive functions and
restoring highest level of independence for safety at home.
Lymphedema Management Services: Treatment for any
abnormal swelling of extremities, neck or trunk.
Women's Health PT: A team of specialized female
therapists assess and treat a variety of problems unique to
women. These services include: pre-natal or post-natal pain
(back, hip, etc), pelvic floor pain or weakness, bladder or
bowel control problems, post breast cancer pain, edema or
tissue restrictions etc.
Cancer Rehab Services: Specialized services to assess
and treat both de-conditioning problems as well as
pain/edema/tissue restriction issues that may arise
post-chemotherapy or post-radiation therapy.
Aquatic Rehab: Erskine Rehab uses pool therapy, water at
94°F combined with skilled therapy for a variety of
diagnoses and patient problems like pain and weakness.
Regional Balance Center:
Saint John's hosts a center with highly specialized audiologists and physical
therapists that will evaluate and treat problems associated
with dizziness, vertigo and loss of balance/falls with high
tech and the latest testing and therapy equipment available
today.
Pediatric Rehab Services: Therapists with special
interest and extensive experience in treating children with
developmental, language, cognitive or musculoskeletal
disorders.
Speech Therapy: Inpatient and outpatient services for
evaluation and treatment of all language, communication,
cognitive and behavioral/social disorders. Specialize
in
assessing swallowing safety also works with laryngectomy
clients. Treats children and adults.
Audiology: Comprehensive evaluation and treatment of
hearing loss. Hearing aids are available.
