Bennett Rehabilitation Center is Madison County’s ONLY
Inpatient Intensive Rehabilitation Center.
Since 1988, Bennett Rehabilitation Center has been
providing specialized intensive inpatient rehab care
for physically and/or
cognitively challenged patients. The
interdisciplinary team utilizes the knowledge of
highly-skilled professionals (physiatrists, rehabilitation
nurses, occupational, physical and speech therapists, and
case managers) with the dedication of the patient and
support of the caregiver.
The primary goal is to help patients reach their highest
level of physical and mental independence. The team is
coordinated by the physiatrist (a doctor of physical
medicine and rehabilitation).
Each
patient’s individual functional goals are established and
reassessed as the patient progresses. The family is viewed
as an integral part of the team and rehabilitation process.
Family members are encouraged to participate in patient
conferences during the rehabilitation stay and to attend
educational sessions provided by therapy and nursing staff.
Typically, patients who are admitted to the intensive
rehabilitation unit are those who are medically stable and
have recently suffered a stroke, multiple traumas, spinal
cord injuries, post-neurosurgical conditions, neurological
disorders, amputations, or suffer from a recent debilitating
condition or injury. Patients are encouraged to dress in
street clothes and eat together in the center's dining
room. Rehabilitative therapy is required for a minimum of
three hours at least five days per week.
Bennett Rehabilitation Center offers a professional and
friendly atmosphere for patients and caregivers to work
toward independent living. This center is not for long-term
placement. Private rooms with shared baths provide personal
areas for patients. The Center has its own dining room,
laundry room, therapy rooms, and activity area where
patients can socialize with others. There also is a fully
functional kitchen where patients can practice everyday
living tasks.
